November 2013

It is a great pleasure to announce the fantastic success of the MIWC’s first open-to-the-public International Christmas Bazaar. Through the generosity of makers and bakers, sponsors and

donors, helpers and behind-the-sceners, husbands and significant others…and of course all of the SHOPPERS, the bazaar made €3000!

Bravo to all, Francesca, Teresa, and Michelle, including the great efforts of Astrid and the kitchen helpers and the whole extended bazaar team; their planning and many hours of putting it all together made the bazaar a fun and successful day in so many ways. The Christmas spirit was so vibrant and fresh among those who attended. I am still hearing how impressed people were with the quality and selection of items for sale, from ceramics and jewelry to photography and painting, soaps and personalized children’s items and pillows, handmade cards, accessories, hats, skirts and wellness. We had 30 vendors, split about half between members and non-members.

I came away with several special Christmas gifts and continue to think about items (and the massage!) I wish I had bought, the nice people I met (including one new member!), and new connections for our club.

Special thanks to our two sponsors, Elisabeth Sommer Relocation who covered all expenses so that all proceeds will go directly to our charities, and to Mr. Lodge who provided all the printing. Ristorante Il Dottore, Mike’s Bike Tours and ams.com were some of the generous business donors who contributed to the very successful Tombola. Please thank them with your support.

Christmas Luncheon

The Christmas luncheon will be held on Wed, 11 Dec. from 11-1 and is being organized by an enthusiastic team of many nationalities.

There are only a few places left, so contact Hanne Bax, hannebax@hotmail.com if you would like to attend. It’s always a fun and tasty celebration of the Christmas season, as well as an opportunity to learn about Christmas traditions from other countries It is the MIWC’s tradition that members donate money for the Frauenhaus mothers to buy gifts for their children at this event. You will be receiving more information about this from the Christmas luncheon team via email and blog post.

I wish you all much joy, warm fingers and warmer greetings in this season of friends and family times.

Hugs,
Liz
