Charity Update March 2014

The 2014 Auction of Talents was a big success. Thank you to Hope Moore and her Team for all their hard work. MIWC raised quite a bit of money for charity.

Our primary charity, the Frauenhaus, is thrilled that they will be able to offer a self-defense and assertiveness training workshop to the residents as a result of the FAWCO Development Grant the MIWC was awarded at the big FAWCO meeting in Brussels. Many thanks to Hope Moore and Liz Jansen for laying the groundwork last year, making this year’s submission much easier.

Speaking of the Frauenhaus, Sibylle Stotz, the Executive Director there, will be the Guest Speaker at our April monthly meeting. Come hear more about the important role the Frauenhaus plays in the lives of local women who need shelter as they escape from abusive relationships.

We will be collecting spring clothing for women and children for the next few months. Additionally, the following items are very useful.

  • Pasta, rice
  • Mirakoli (a pack of pasta with cheese sauce)
  • Vegetable soup packets
  • Cans of meatless spaghetti sauce, canned tomatoes
  • Tea, Senseo coffee pads, sugar
  • Biscuits, pretzels, chocolate
  • Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion
  • Toothbrushes, toothpaste, hair brushes, combs
  • Pots and pans for induction stove tops
  • Frying pans
  • Hair dryers
  • Suitcases
  • Towels

Please bring your donations to the monthly meeting and leave them in the front hall of Peace Church.
