Message from Liz April 2014

IMAG0560Let’s take a few moments in our busy individual and club lives to pause and take a deep breath of fresh warm spring air. The days are longer; the sun is stronger. We appreciate the burst of spring newness: the bright green leaves of the trees, colorful flower blossoms, fresh tender bärlauch shoots, birds chirping and singing early in the morning, new life all around us. And the store windows have certainly sprouted the season’s latest colors and the very current trendy floral patterns!

There is much new in our club this spring to welcome too. We add new members every week, as well as many visitors to our meetings and activities. New members bring new energy and ideas to our club, such as the weekly short walk, badminton and other activities. New committee team members assume new responsibilities and suggest innovations and efficiencies that keep us all better focused and refreshed.

The Activities team organizes and supports daily, weekly and monthly events that give members the opportunities to experience and learn many new things: languages, cooking, books, exploring our city and environs, restaurants, museums, music. In early April the Annual Social Event team introduced a very successful new family and friends event, Bowling and Breakfast, with several participants suggesting it be repeated next year.

Along with all this fresh air and refreshed energy, we want also to take time to appreciate so much of the tried and true that works so well in our club, creative and active members who have been involved for many years…and the MIWC’s priorities of Camaraderie, Culture and Charity. Without these strong foundations and the commitment of many people, the MIWC could not be the inclusive, responsive and warm organization that it is.

So to new members and old friends, to deep roots and staying open to new ideas, join me in celebrating the season of Spring.

Liebe grüße, Liz
