FAWCO February 2015 Update

Happy 25th Anniversary to MIWC from all the FAWCO Clubs!!

Remember, as a member of MIWC you are also a member of FAWCO. It’s interesting to go to the FAWCO websites from time to time because there is always something new and interesting. If you haven’t already, you can log in and check out www.fawco.org and www.fawcofoundation.org.

The FAWCO Biennial Conference is in ROME ITALY this year from 25-28 March!!! All members are welcome so please consider joining me and at least 7 other MIWC members at this Rome conference. What a great way to learn and be inspired by FAWCO clubs and their members from around the world.  In addition to the annual general meeting with reports from all facets of FAWCO there will also be presentations from local and international speaker who will cover a variety of global and club-level issues. There will also be an update on FAWCO’s Target Program – Human Rights for Women.  A special panel of experts has been arranged to address the issue of Human Rights for Women and Girls. The FAWCO Foundation Development Grants and Educational Awards will also be announced. Thanks to Roxey Lau’s initiate following her trip to India, our club has submitted a Development Grant for Pardada Pardadi Educational Society for consideration. I encourage you to join us and travel to Rome, the Eternal City, and be prepared to catch FAWCO “Fever” at this Biennial Conference. Please contact me hope.moore@t-online.de if you would like any further information!

Once again this year, our very own Roberta Zoellner has designed a beautiful Friendship Quilt that will be a major fund raiser at the Conference. Roberta designed the quilt, with the “Backing Women” theme, club members from around the world created panels, and Roberta has now assembled a beautiful quilt to be raffled off. Roberta will bring the quilt to our next monthly meeting (AGM) on 11 February and you can buy your raffle tickets from us from that day onwards. We will also have raffle tickets for the stunning diamond and emerald bracelet also to be raffled. Photos of the quilt and bracelet and raffle tickets are available online at fawcofoundation@org. Also new this year there will be an Online Auction launched on March 1.  I will keep you posted.

I look forward to keeping everyone up to date throughout this FAWCO Conference Season.
