September Activities

(and a little October news too)

Summer heat lingers but the tilting of our planet is unmistakeable in both the length of our day and in the easing of the heat. This month also bring us the traditional Oktoberfest on the Wiesn. You’ll find MIWC at a couple of tents this year and the details are below.

Some of these events are drop in and others require some advance planning. In either case, please be sure to scroll all the way to the end of the page where we keep the news on upcoming tours and deadlines.

Please use the third quarter password

Activities happen because one or two of our members decided to share a passion with others. If you want to share an activity, send the Activities team an email. We’ll help you get it set up.

If you want to attend an activity, send an email to the organizer listed with each event. If, as sometimes happens, life changes your plan, then please let the activity organizer know you can’t make it at least 24 hours in advance.  Please understand that prepaid participation might not be refundable.

If you organize an activity that must be cancelled, please contact and inform the participants. In addition, the activity organizer should contact the web team,, with any changes so they are reflected on the MIWC website and the event calendar.

Ros Telfer, Anitra Kitts and Liz Janson read all the mail sent to We keep this page, send out the Weekly Reminder, and keep the Events Calendar.

Many thanks in advance for your contribution and participation.

November’s book: One Summer: America 1927 by Bill Bryson

Book Club Report August 2015

Our book this month was “The Rosie Project” by Graeme Simion. Don lives his life by following a timetable. Now it’s time to find a wife, and he draws up a questionaire to help him find the perfect mate – it has 304 questions… Don sees no connection between himself and Aspbergers. Rosie comes into his life, and although she is obviously not suitable (a smoking barmaid!), he does find himself drawn to her. We found the book light and funny, but there were also some thought- provoking ideas. We recommend The Rosie Project as a good Summer read. Thanks to Carol for a wonderful afternoon, and her ability to deal with the changing weather.

Famous for their cakes, they also do breakfasts and light lunches. So come join us for café and kuchen or whatever takes your fancy. It’s a casual gentle entry into autumn/winter 2015. It’s easy to get to on the S bahn and if you wish a group of you could get together and buy a cheaper ticket. There is street parking for those who prefer to drive.
