EDUCATION AWARDS AND DEVELOPMENT GRANTS 

Could you, your children or grandchildren be a candidate for a FAWCO academic scholarship? What about a Development Grant for a charitable project for which you have a passion? As a Munich IWC and FAWCO member you are already eligible! Though the deadline for these grants is January 2018, now is the time to thoughtfully consider these opportunities and begin the application process. Read on for specific information.

FAWCO has a brand new online magazine.  Introducing Inspiring Women! The quarterly magazine will profile the lives of individual members of FAWCO clubs throughout the world who use their skills, talents and passions to make an impact in the global community. Each issue will have a theme and include interviews with selected members suggested by club presidents, FAWCO reps or members like you!

FAWCO Target Project – Please Vote!

Education – Empowering Women and Girls through Knowledge and Skills

The Target Project is a way for FAWCO members to make an actionable investment to empower women and girls through knowledge and skills. Through the support of The FAWCO Foundation we will employ the energy and generosity of our Member Clubs by fundraising for a single project supporting women’s and girls’ education. Of 18 Projects proposed, three have been chosen by the FAWCO Target Program Selection Committee as finalists for consideration. As a MIWC member you are a FAWCO member and have a vote!

Mumbai March 2017 FAWCO Biennial Conference

The goals for the 2017 Biennial Conference are the same as the Target Program : Education – Empowering Women and Girls through Knowledge and skills. We have a number of women attending the Mumbai 2017 Conference, Hope Moore, Katie Mis, Roberta Zollner, Michele Hendrikse DuBois, Cecily Garver, Anitra Kitts and myself.

What is FAWCO?

Founded in 1931, FAWCO (Federation of American Women’s Clubs Overseas) is a UN-accredited NGO (non-governmental organization) and umbrella organization for some 65 women’s clubs in 35 countries worldwide, with a total membership of around 12,000. Member clubs include American and international clubs such as ours.  FAWCO seeks to improve the lives of women and girls worldwide, specifically in the areas of human rights, health, education, and the environment. It contributes to the global community throughout its Task Forces and FAWCO Foundation, which provides development grants and education awards. Since 1997, FAWCO has held special consultative status to the UN Economic and Social Council.  From 2016-2019, its focus will be on  Education, as a path to empowerment, mobility, and freedom. As  MIWC is a member of FAWCO, all members of MIWC are also FAWCO members.   FAWCO says:   everyone can make a difference; together we make change!
