It may seem a while off, but a couple of our esteemed Executive Committee will be relinquishing their roles at our next AGM in February 2017. As such the time has come for us to find some proactive, positive ladies who would like to lead the way for our vibrant club. Maybe you or someone you know might be prepared to co-ordinate and work together with our various teams and main committee. You don’t have to be Superwoman but rather someone who enjoys working with people and representing our club. A working knowledge of German is helpful but definitely not essential.

If you think you have what it takes or know someone who does, please send your nomination to NOMINATE@INTERNATIONALWOMENSCLUB.ORG We are currently looking for people who feel they could fill the shoes of President and Vice President.

Dear MIWC Members, Pending Members and Visitors,

Today is the club’s monthly long walk, a lovely January wander to Murnau, the house museum of the fabulous Blue Rider artist, Gabriella Münter, and of course, lunch at a Gasthof with wonderful views, all planned by our dedicated walking team Susi Cullison, Astrid Poell, and Eva Reintinger. The monthly walk is one of my favorite club activities: catching up with friends and getting to know new people in a leisurely way as we go along, being active, enjoying the views, discovering new places.

The last two years as chairperson have been another, different kind of walk (and only occasionally a ramble!). I’ve gotten to know and work along side with so many of you interesting and intelligent women, treading established paths and exploring new ways, appreciating your creativity and many contributions of time, energy and ideas. Together we’ve continued to encourage and help others in their journeys, be it fellow members learning to live in Munich, or the residents of Frauenhaus, now living strong and safe from abuse. And we most definitely cannot forget our frequent and important stops to pause for coffee, cake, lunch, dinner, bier and margaritas (not all in one day!)…more opportunities to talk, enjoy and explore.

It certainly has been a fun and rewarding journey for me as well. Thank you all! I encourage you to attend our AGM on Wed, 11 Feb., to hear the charity team’s and my chairperson’s reports for 2014, approve the 2015 budget, and to vote on the club’s new Executive Board: Cecily Garver (chairperson), Erika Samano (Vice-Chairperson), and Peggy Dauser (Treasurer) as they assume their upcoming strong, friendly and talented leadership.

Looking forward to many ‘walks’ with you all, on paths and otherwise! Lots coming up this year as the club celebrates its 25th anniversary. We started partying at the January general meeting with a very delicious cake organized by Erika Samano and prosecco organized by our Hospitality team. Cheers indeed!

Very fondly,

Chairperson 2013-2105

gingerbreadChristmas Greetings to the MIWC!

The Christmas season started for real with the wonderful luncheon hosted by our creative and shining British members at the Palmenhaus at Schloss Nymphenburg. Huge thanks to Vivien Robinson and her team of fellow Brits who publicized with such verve, organized with such thoroughness and entertained with such talent and enthusiasm. A record number of us (120) enjoyed the beautiful festive time together, celebrating with fun activities and traditional carols, and enjoying a visit from the British Bake-Off queen. The tasty baked goods and Christmas cake were raffled off, and long with donations, over €1300 raised for the Frauenhaus mums for Christmas gifts for their children. Thank you all for your generous hearts and support of these families.

This message will find our over 250 active and alumnae MIWC members from 33+ countries, spread out all over the world for Christmas and holidays. I wish you joy with family and friends, peace in your hearts and in the world, and a safe and happy return to Munich. See you in January and…

Hello MIWC members and visitors,

There is much good news and important information to share in this merry month of May! Read along for some highlights…

We have all long known that dozens of happy women catching up from the past month’s activities and travels can create a rather loud buzz in the basement of Peace Church where we hold our general meetings. Peace Church has graciously agreed to allow us to use the spacious church sanctuary for the speaker’s part of our meeting from June on. We will still gather in the basement for coffee and chatting at 10, before moving upstairs about 10:45. We are so grateful for the continued excellent relationship between Peace Church and our club. If you run into either Pastor Junginger or Pastor Christine, please be sure to thank them for this great new opportunity for our meetings! Continue reading

MIWC Website Postings

As the MIWC continues to grow with new members, new leadership, and new ideas, it’s a good time to take the opportunity to clarify the club’s policies on what can be posted on the club’s website and social sites, including how members can offer items for sale and publicize their businesses.

The MIWC is an inclusive and welcoming social club, with informal networking taking place through conversations and word of mouth. Many of our members sell goods and services that are interesting and worthwhile to others in the club. However, the club’s meetings, mailing list, and website postings cannot be used to promote or advertise a member’s business. To do so not only Continue reading
